We Arrived in Madrid......finally

After a short delay, we finally made it to Madrid! As the plane approached Madrid, we started circling and circling, so we knew something was up. Turns out, there was too much fog to land and the plane needed to refuel. So, we ended up flying on to Barcelona where we landed, refueled and then flew back to Madrid which, by that time, had cleared up nicely. Oh well....instead of arriving at 10 a.m. we ended up getting here at 2 p.m. No biggie. At least by that time our hotel rooms were ready since we all really needed to freshen up by that time!

Yesterday was pretty low key......after getting cleaned up, we just walked around the Porto del Sol square, where the hotel is located, and then had some dinner. It´s really a lovely old part of the city with everything you would expect for Europe - winding streets lined with cafes and interesting shops and lots of interesting people watching. The main square has a couple of beautiful fountans and most of the evenings there were roaming Mariachi style bands performing. The weather is sunny and clear and just a little cool - actually a lot like Dallas when we left. We found a couple of places where we think we can get an international SIM card for our phones, so it that works out we´ll defnitely let you know.

Today we´re off to the famous Prado Museum and hopefully tonight to a great flamenco performance. I´m using the computer in the hotel lobby and I think everyone is about to head down for breakfast so I´m going to sign off for now.......

P.S.: Thanks for the hotel suggestion, Pat & Julie - the Hotel Europa is perfect!

P.S.S.: I can´t figure out how to insert the camera´s SD card into this computer so I´ll try to upload some pictures later on our computer.......
