Our Last 48 Hours in Seattle

Is it really possible that all these months of planning have boiled down to these last 48 hours before take off??? Our household is stored away, the house is (mostly) cleaned up and ready for new occupants, and we're looking forward to one last weekend of socializing with our friends who mean so much to us. We just can't believe it.......

Jim and I have had several conversations over the last couple of days reflecting on how fortunate we are to have the friends we have. Although we know Seattle is home and always will be, and that we will be returning at some point in the future, this time is definitely filled with melancholy for us as we bid a final "til we meet again" to the people who mean so much to us. I alluded to this yesterday when I jokingly said, "now why are we doing this again?" but truthfully, no matter how thrilling the anticipation is of what lies ahead, it is hard to say goodbye, even temporarily, to the people who make up the cement of your daily life. Sigh.........we really do want to impart to all of our dear friends how very much you mean to both of us and how lovingly we will carry you in our hearts as we jump off the metaphorical cliff! On a happier note, though, we will eagerly look forward to seeing all of you again in the future, whether meeting up with us along the trail or raising a toast with us to celebrate our return home!

We also want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for everything that you've done to help us get here - taking care of our plants, helping with transportation, taking so much of the leftover items from our yard sale as well as the pantry, helping out with communication needs - we could go on and on, but we just want all of you to know how appreciative and thankful we are.

So......come Sunday morning, we'll be hitting the road to Boise for a few days and then on to Texas. We'll do our best to make our future dispatches interesting as we go along so stay tuned!

Warm wishes to all,

David & Jim
